5 Tips to Keep Yourself Motivated for the Gym: Beating the burnout.

Beating the Burnout.
If you are like me then you probably wavered in your consistency with going to the gym for years. I would have great months and I would have months I only went once every week for a short, sad workout. I have been very consistent now with my workouts for almost 3 years and this is what helped me stay consistent.
1.Set your clothes out the night before so that it is easier to get ready for the gym
Make it easy and a decision you make the night before. Do not spend 30 minutes looking for your airpods that you need but somehow misplaced. The less stressful you make the whole process for yourself the more likely you will want to keep up with it.
2.Dress cute for the gym. Feeling sexy and confident at the gym will make you more likely to stick with your routine
I love reading psychology books and the research behind habit building and shifting identities. And if you want to be the "you" that works out consistently every day and is her best self then you need to dress like her. I can't speak for other woman, but I love working out because the toner I get the sexier I feel in my body so why not give yourself that feeling of your end goal but not later... now. I love my workout sets and jumpers and slicking back my hair in a tight pony. I feel like the version of "me" that I am trying to create.
3.Find what motivates you. I like to watch Pinterest workout videos I have saved before I go so that I get pumped.
I love to watch cute, short videos of my toned pilates, NYC girlies doing workouts or someone in the gym doing crunches with a toned stomach and being like, "Hell Yeah, That's me!". Get's me pumped right before I change into my gym clothes and get sweaty myself.
4.Bask in the feeling after you work out. Take a deep breathe in and imprint that feeling in your mind of the endorphins as a reminder of why you enjoy working out.
The feeling after you work out is insanely intoxicating when you have all those endorphins in you and dopamine. You are looking in the mirror like, "Did my booty get bigger already!" or "My tummy looks flatter and I feel like I can see abb lines!" or maybe just a "Damn, I feel proud!". Whatever your feelings are bask in that goodness and imprint it on your mind. It will be a reminder for the days you don't want to go.
5.Give yourself words of affirmation as you work out. This is a great time to do mirror work
Mirror work is a tool used by a lot of people trying to work on the self-conception. You can look into all the different ways people use it if you'd like but I am just going to give you my gym version. My version is listening to affirmations while I do weights and look into the mirror. I agree with the affirmation track and shower myself in love. I say, " Yes, I am stunning and someone worthy of love" as I look at myself with loving admiration. The gym is a great time to build your confidence and be your own cheerleader. It is addicting! Trust me.
