The emotional toll of Credit Card Debt and how overcoming it helps you pay it off.

Credit card debt can feel heavy especially if you are not paying it off every month. I personally got into about 15k when I decided to take career bootcamp and then couldn't afford to immediately pay it off. It was the first time in my life I felt that anxious and ashamed when it came to money. I was in a job where at the time I was just living paycheck to paycheck. I would get nervous about not "having enough" when I would go out with friends and felt snappy around money. But as someone who loves mindset work and did her homework I have been blessed to pay most of that off in a years' time and here is how.

2 Step Mental Strategies: Shifting Your Mindset and Letting Go

Ask yourself this question first and if your answer is negative than I recommend you keep going...When I was a child, money was ________.

David Bayer a millionaire mindset coach taught me that sentence and it made me realize my credit card debt was just me reliving my childhood and a neural network that needed reprogramming.

Step 1: Recognize if you feel anxious, shameful or overwhelmed and write down when. Do some Shadow work with your money story and start doing meditations in the morning where you visualize having it all paid off. Katie Clarke has a great YouTube video for this called, "The Hidden Blocks keeping you from Abundance".

Step 2: Let go of this shame through forgiving yourself and by being grateful for anything that you have in your life or anything money has once brought to you. Gratitude Journals are the best for this and I will Link a 5-minute gratitude journal below.

This really helped me snowball paying off my credit card debt. I personally went with a 0% interest card from Citi-bank and it not only sped up the payoff time but it took so much mental load off when I would look at my credit card and it wasn't at the brim of being overdrawn. It also showed me a light at the end of the tunnel which I so desperatly needed.

Something else, I would recommend is to still treat yourself as you pay it off and the way I did this was by spacing out my shopping on Afterpay and Affirm. I would buy myself one nice thing or do my christmas shopping and not buy anything else until it was paid off. Paying $15-25 every 2 weeks for a gift for myself or others is totally manageable in my books and doesn't detract from my goals.

Other tips that helped me start living the life I wanted while still reaching my payoff goals.

I realized that you can either be miserable or find a way to have joy and peace while paying off your debt and I decided for the ladder. This was how I accomplished that...

How Your Identity with Money and Your Focus on Your Debt Is Keeping You Stuck.

If you are focused on how, you are still in debt and it might take this amount of time to pay it off and blah blah blah, then you will bring more negativity to your life including in your finances! So put some positive teaches in your life! My personal favorites are Kathleen Cameron, David Bayer and Morgan Housal! They have changed my life and allowed the money in my life to flow like never before! (I will link the books below!)
